1. Where can I buy a membership?
Answer:
Individual memberships can be purchased at the local Tampico Academic Saturdays.


2. How much does it cost?
Answer:
Cost of Annual memberships:
Annual individual membership = $200
Annual student membership = $150
Annual group membership with a minimum of 5 teachers from the same institution = $180 per teacher

*Facturas are available for annual memberships because it is through the national office. Just ask when you buy your membership. Some teachers have deducted the cost of membership and conventions (including airfare, hotel, and registration fee) from their income tax, but you need facturas (official tax receipts).

*Unfortunately, the local Tampico Chapter cannot give facturas for the cost of individual Academic Saturdays. However, if it's a group of teachers from an institution or several Academic Saturdays, we can put this together in one invoice.

Cost of Each Academic Saturday:
Members with ID = $50
Non-members = $70

Note that special events may cost more, but this will be announced in advance.

3. Who can join?
Answer:
Teachers, students, supervisors, directors, or anyone else who is interested in the EFL/ESL professions.

4. Do I have to be a Mextesol member to go to an Academic Saturday?
Answer:
No, but members only pay $50
Non-members are welcome, but they pay $70


5. Why should I become a member?
Answer:
The benefits are:
- discounts on Academic Saturdays and Mextesol Conventions
- Mextesol journal and newsletter
- a professional association that you can put on your resume
- Mextesol diplomas for each Academic Saturday and convention your attend
- networking with other professionals in your field
- practical techniques and theoretical knowledge to make you a better teacher
- it's relatively cheap
- sometimes there are door prizes
- some deductions for your income tax

6. How do I get a membership card?
Answer:
After you have purchased your membership, it will take some time before the national office officially registers you so that you will be able to print your card from the natonal website.

It is recommended that if you are planning to register for the national convention, please do not leave your renewal or membership until the last minute due to the processing time it takes for memberships at the national office. You may not be able to access the national registration site immediately, which might cause some problems.

It is recommended that after printing your card, you add your photo, sign it, and laminate it at your own expense.

Note that the local Tampico Chapter does NOT have your password, nor does it print membership cards. You must print your card from the national website.

7. What if I don't know what my password is or I forgot it, and now I can't access the membership services on the national website?
